Dr. Christian Schunn was born in Germany and has received scholarships from the American Field Service, the German Academic Exchange Service, and the State of Bavaria before coming to the United States.
Surgical Associates is pleased to have Dr. Schunn join the practice in September of 2005. He performs a wide range of vascular and endovascular techniques as well as vein treatments at all hospital campuses and our Vein Solutions office.
Dr. Christian Schunn received his medical degree from Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich Germany. He obtained his doctorate at Technical University of Munich and then pursued General Surgery Training at Kreiskrankenhaus Pfaffenhofen, Germany before moving to the United States for a residency in pediatrics/internal medicine at the State University of New York. Subsequently, Dr. Schunn trained in general surgery at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital before completing his general surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Schunn then completed his fellowship training in vascular surgery at the Cleveland Clinic under Dr. Norman Hertzer and at the University Erlangen-Nurnberg under Professor Raitel. For the past six years, he has served as an Assistant and Associate Professor at West Virginia University. While there, he served as medical director of the Vascular Noninvasive Laboratory. Dr. Schunn is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of many prestigious national and international vascular and endovasular societies.
